Every event has one or more time slots. Each slot is its own shift with its own start/end time and capacity. Volunteers RSVP to a specific slot, not the event as a whole.
How slots work
- Each slot is an independent shift — a Saturday event might have a 9am-12pm slot and a 1pm-4pm slot.
- Capacity is per-slot. If the morning has 20 spots and the afternoon has 10, they fill independently.
- Volunteers pick one slot when they RSVP. They can RSVP to multiple slots if you allow it.
- When a slot hits capacity, it shows as 'Full' in the browse feed. Volunteers can still see the event but can't register for that slot.
Adding and editing slots
- 1
Open the event editor
From your event page, click Edit → Slots section.
- 2
Add a new slot
Click Add Slot. Enter start time, end time, and max capacity.
- 3
Edit existing slots
Click any slot to change times or capacity. Changes notify RSVPed volunteers if the time changes.
- 4
Delete a slot
Remove a slot by clicking the trash icon. If volunteers are RSVPed, they'll be notified and need to pick a different slot.
Create multiple 2-3 hour slots instead of one long 8-hour block. Volunteers are more likely to commit to a shorter shift, and you get better coverage across the day.
Reducing capacity below the number of current RSVPs won't kick anyone out, but new registrations will be blocked until someone cancels.
For weekly events with the same schedule, duplicate the event and just change the date. All slot configurations carry over.
